LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed a sweets production unit for not having food license to run business, improper arrangements of cleanliness and presence of insects in the production area during operation held in the metropolis on Wednesday.
PFA food safety teams under the supervision of Food Safety Officers (FSOs) have conducted raids on hundreds of eateries and examined the food quality.
Teams checked eateries located in Gulberg, MM Alam road, Model Town, Ferozpur Road, Baggriyan Chowk, Iqbal Town, Johar Town and other areas of city.
PFA has issued 42 improvement notices and fine tickets of Rs 31,000 to big wigs of sweets and restaurant organization including Dixy Chicken, Korean Restaurant, Hazara Hotel, Xiwang Restaurant, Italian Pizza, OPTP, Iceland Dry Fruit and Juice, Second Cup CoffeeCompany and others.
PFA Spokesman said that PFA has rolled up the sleeves to ensure availability of quality products and PFA will deal iron handedly with the violators for not following PFA’s rules and regulations. PFA said that food points were sealed and imposed fine due to presence of open drains in processing area, abundance of insects, failing to maintain the hygienic working environment and providing substandard food to the people.
Separately, PFA has also discarded 30 kg coloured crackers, 30 liters adulterated milk and issued improvement notices to several food points during operation held against violators in Kasur district.
